Linux System Administration - Course Syllabus

A short module covering basic administration of a Linux system. This course is designed to cover stand-alone Linux systems only. The administration of networked systems is covered in another course. The course regularly updated to the latest general release of Red Hat Linux though the concepts are applicable to other flavours as well.

The section on managing printers can use either the more traditional LPRng interface or the newer Common Unix Printing System (CUPS).

Notes

  1. All participants receive comprehensive lecture notes.
  2. Basic Unix/Linux experience (such as our Using Unix Course) is a pre-requisite.
  3. The course includes practical "hands-on" work.
  4. Ideally, each student should have a PC Linux System to work on.
  5. The length of the course is normally 2 days.
